Pharmacy Residency Program

PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

Official copy of college/university transcript for pharmacy school to PhORCAS
Register for the National Matching Service

Program Information

Core Rotations

Orientation: 4 weeks
Infectious Disease: 4 – 6 weeks
General Medicine: 4 – 6 weeks
Internal Medicine: 4 – 6 weeks
Critical Care I: 4 – 6 weeks
Emergency Medicine: 4 – 6 weeks

Elective Rotations

Subacute: 4 weeks
Community Hospital Practice at La Palma Intercommunity Hospital: 4 weeks
Administration II at Centinela Hospital Medical Center: 4 weeks
Ambulatory Care at Vermont V.O. Pharmacy: 4 weeks
Critical Care II at Centinela Hospital Medical Center: 4 weeks
Psychiatry: 4 weeks
Family Medicine at Pyo Clinic: 4 weeks

Longitudinal Rotations

Administration 1: 1 – 2 weeks of orientation and longitudinal
Medication Safety: 1 – 2 weeks of orientation and longitudinal
Project: 4 weeks and ongoing
Staffing: 3 weeks of orientation prior to starting weekend staffing and every other weekend
Teaching (optional): Participation in 6 workshops, 1 large group teaching, 1 small group teaching, 2 OSCEs, and precepting APPE students
