West Anaheim Medical Center among best in the nation at serving its patients and community, according to healthcare think tank
June 24, 2025 — West Anaheim Medical Center, a proud member of Prime Healthcare, has been recognized by the Lown Institute as one of the most socially responsible hospitals in America, earning “A” grades in Social Responsibility, Health Equity, Patient Outcomes, Clinical Outcomes, Inclusivity, and Avoiding Overuse on the 2025–26 Lown Institute Hospitals Index. Out of more than 3,500 hospitals evaluated nationwide, only 5% achieved Honor Roll status—West Anaheim is proud to be among them.
West Anaheim Medical Center ranked in the top 30 out of 258hospitals in California on the social responsibility metric.

This recognition adds to a growing list of accolades for West Anaheim Medical Center. In October 2024, the hospital earned five-star ratings from Healthgrades for Cardiac, Orthopedic, Gastrointestinal, and Critical Care services, including treatment of diabetic emergencies, hip fracture treatment, gallbladder surgery, and pacemaker procedures. Earlier in 2024, West Anaheim was also named a recipient of the Outstanding Patient Experience Award™, further underscoring its dedication to delivering exceptional care and superior outcomes.
The Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility is the only ranking to combine metrics of health equity and value of care alongside patient outcomes, for more than 2,700 acute care and 800 critical access hospitals nationwide offering a holistic view of hospitals as total community partners. In the sixth annual rankings, the 2025-26 Lown Index evaluates hospitals on over 50 measuresincluding novel metrics such as community benefit, racial inclusivity, and avoidance of overuse. Data sources include Medicare fee-for-service and Medicare Advantage claims, CMS patient safety data and hospital cost reports, and IRS 990 forms, among others.
