New Grade for Fall 2023 is a national recognition for patient safety.
(West Anaheim, CA – November 17, 2023) – West Anaheim Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.
This is sixth time West Anaheim Medical Center has earned an ‘A’ grade in patient safety from Leapfrog, the nation’s premier advocate of transparency in health care.
Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.
West Anaheim Medical Center was also recently recognized by the Lown Institute as one of the most socially responsible hospitals in America. This recognition was based on the hospital receiving “A” grades in Social Responsibility, Health Equity, Value, and Outcomes on its 2023-24 Lown Institute Hospitals Index. Additionally, West Anaheim Medical Center has achieved numerous five-star ratings for specialty care from Healthgrades, which places it in the upper echelon of hospitals nationally for specialty care. These achievements reflect the hospital’s commitment to providing the best care possible.
